German Language A1 Course in Germany (CEFR) — Sprachschule Unter der Eiche

If you’re looking for a German language course a1 in Germany, our German A1 programme is designed for learners with little or no previous knowledge of German language who want practical communication skills and a clear progression path through the Common European Framework of Reference. This course level builds a strong foundation, develops essential language skills, and supports measurable language proficiency—so you can move confidently into Level A2, and later toward Level B1.

We welcome international students and learners from diverse backgrounds, with a consistent curriculum, clear course content, and supportive instruction across all locations.

Who this A1 course is for?

This A1 German course is suitable if you:

  • Have limited or no prior knowledge of German
  • Want a CEFR-aligned language level with clearly defined outcomes
  • Need German for daily life (e.g., Anmeldung, appointments, housing, transport, workplace basics)
  • want structured support for your daily routine, social plans, and free time activities

If you have studied German before, we can recommend a short placement test (a quick language test) to confirm the right starting course level for you.

What you will be able to do after A1

By the end of the course, you will be able to use simple sentences in routine contexts and manage a range of everyday interactions with increasing confidence. You will be able to:

  • Introduce yourself, ask and answer basic questions, and use polite everyday phrases
  • Handle practical tasks in everyday situations (appointments, shopping, directions, and housing basics)
  • Improve listening comprehension through guided audio input and classroom practice
  • Read short texts such as signs, messages, simple emails, and forms
  • Write short notes and messages related to daily needs and your daily routine

Curriculum focus (A1.1 to A1.2)

Our A1 programme builds core German learning foundations with a focus on accuracy, clarity, and real-world use.

Course content includes:

  • The German alphabet, pronunciation foundations, and practical spelling patterns
  • Basic vocabulary for daily life topics (time, food, transport, health, work, housing, family, leisure)
  • Essential German grammar, including word order (Satzbau), question forms, negation, and core sentence patterns
  • Noun basics, including indefinite articles (ein/eine) and introductory case usage (first steps into Akkusativ/Dativ)

Your lessons include structured speaking practice and interactive exercises such as role-plays, dialogues, and task-based activities. We use modern teaching materials and a clear teaching method to support steady progress and reliable outcomes.

Progression, exams, and next steps

If you need official confirmation of your language proficiency, we can guide you toward suitable language examinations and preparation strategies. We also advise on your next step after A1—moving into Level A2, and later toward Level B1—depending on your goals (for example, work requirements, a degree program, or expectations from language institutions).
